History of how the SCRC began.

Rick "Rickster" Perry start a Riding Club in the Memphis Area around 1997 to meet new friends and to get the people together that also shared the thrill of Motorcycling in a manner that was acceptable to all. After getting a few people together, they came up with the name Southern Cruisers Riding Club, and then after about a dozen different Club Patch designs the current Club Patch was developed.

Shortly after The Memphis Chapter started to form, Rickster was contacted by Jerry "HIP" Longdon from the Knoxville area and asked about the Club. Soon a Chapter in Knoxville Tn was started see what would actually happen. Lots of decisions were made at that time about how what the Southern Cruisers would be all about. They decided that the SCRC would be a NO DUE`S Style Club, members were not to give the Club a bad name and, to keep it all activities clean and legal. SCRC was now a Tennessee Club.

After little time went by Tim Jones started Rome, Georgia Chapter. Since Tim designed Websites for a living he set up the Southern Cruisers web site with its own Domain Name. http://SouthernCruisers.Net

Then David Williams in South Carolina, Tony Conway in Oklahoma, and Bill Strebel about the Middle Tennessee all started new Chapters. That is when SCRC started opening up new Chapters all over the United States and people were starting to join every single day. It was at that time Rickster realized that other riders were wanting a Club set up just like what had been set up within the Southern Cruisers.

Now SCRC has Chapters spread all across the United States and even out side the United States and we are growing faster than ever before. There is now over 20,000 members in the Southern Cruisers Riding Club!

History of how the Macomb Chapter began.

In Memory of our Founder

Tim Beels SCC#179001 - New Haven, MI

1st Officer and founding father of the Macomb County Michigan Chapter. Tim Passed away Thursday, November 15th, 2001 in the early hours after a long painful battle with cancer. Tim left behind his wife Cindy, son Joshua and many friends who he had touched. Tim was a pillar of strength for SCRC and the community. He set the ground work for what we have today in our Chapter, and he did many things for our members that were never openly seen. Tim is very much missed by many, but we also know he is finally in a place of peace and rest, and he is watching over all us and keeping us safe.

The Macomb County Chapter 179 of the Southern Cruisers Riding Club was organized in 2000 by Tim Beels, with Josh Beels as his 2nd Officer to better serve the members that lived in the northern Metro Detroit area. This area covered from East Detroit to Howell, Michigan, and up to the northern parts of Port Huron, Shortly after the Chapters inception Josh stepped down as 2nd Officer, and Scot Holloway became 2nd Officer. In 2001 Tim realized that he was fighting for his life, Tim passed away on Thursday, November 15th, 2001 in the early hours after his long painful battle with cancer. Tim layed the ground work for Scot to become 1st Officer and take over the Chapter. Since then the Positions of Officers have been handed down to members who have all contributed to the growth of the Chapter to it's current Officers.

There are also other chapters located in Michigan. Included in these are Southeast (the original SCRC Chapter in Michigan), Grand Rapids, Saginaw, Kalamazoo, Oakland County, Thumb Area (Bad Axe), Flint, Blue Water (Port Huron) Traverse City, Upper Peninsula, Monroe, Motor City and Downriver.
